Australia have suffered a setback ahead of their three-match ODI series against Pakistan as captain Mitchell Marsh has been ruled out due to an ankle injury.
In his absence, wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglis will take over the captaincy duties for the tour of Pakistan.
Marsh, who also missed the final game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) season with Lucknow Super Giants, will remain in Perth for ongoing treatment and further medical evaluation.
Cricket Australia confirmed that his availability for the upcoming white-ball tour of Bangladesh will be assessed later.
The ODI series between Pakistan and Australia is set to begin on May 30 and run until June 4. The first match will be played in Rawalpindi, while the remaining two fixtures will be staged at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium.
This tour marks Australia’s return to Pakistan for a bilateral 50-over series since their last visit in March–April 2022, when Pakistan clinched a 2-1 series win on home soil. Earlier this year, Australia also toured Pakistan for a three-match T20I series in January–February, which the hosts swept 3-0 in Lahore.
