With the demise of Amanullah Zafar, popularly known as AU Zafar, comes to an end an era of immaculate career, lasting friendship and deep loyalty towards family.
Former Federal Secretary for Information and ex-General Manager (GM) Pakistan Railways (PR) AU Zafar passed away on Dec 9, 2021 in Islamabad. He was 95.
AU Zafar was a graduate of the University of Engineering Lahore. He also did his Masters in Mechanical Engineering from the United Kingdom and joined Pakistan Railways in 1945.
He served Pakistan in various capacities including Secretary Planning and Development, Consul General of Pakistan in Hong Kong and Deputy Head of Mission in Pakistan Embassy Belgium.
AU Zafar was also a champion in sports winning several laurels and during his distinguished career served as President of Pakistan Railways Sports Board, Pakistan Basketball Federation, Chairman Pakistan Cycling Federation, Secretary General Pakistan Amateur Athletic Federation and Member Executive Committee Pakistan Olympics Association and a host of others
