ISLAMABAD – Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar has said the government will not allow Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to disrupt law and order in Islamabad under any circumstances, warning that authorities will take firm action to prevent any such attempt.
Talking to a local private TV, Tarar said the government would use all available measures to stop the party from creating a law and order situation in the federal capital.
He alleged that PTI had never held a peaceful protest and urged its leadership to act responsibly, warning that the party could face consequences it would remember for a long time.
The minister also said that the sisters of PTI founder Imran Khan had been arrested on the basis of credible information suggesting that they intended to disturb public order.
The questioning the party’s leadership structure, Tarar said it was unclear who had the authority to make decisions or negotiate on PTI’s behalf.
He claimed that PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan had little influence within the party and that his position was not taken seriously by its members.
Tarar also questioned the credentials of those proposing negotiations with the government, arguing that they lacked the authority to make commitments on behalf of the party.
He said there was little justification for holding talks with PTI, adding that the government did not trust the party’s assurances.
