ISLAMABAD – An Anti-Terrorism Court on Saturday issued a non-bailable arrest warrants for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur.

ATC Judge Tahir Abbas Supra passed the order while hearing the cases related to May 9 events.

Lawyer Zahoor-ul-Hassan who was representing KP CM Ali Amin Gandapur submitted a request for exemption from attendance on behalf of his client, to which Prosecutor Raja Naveed responded that the court should consider the defendant’s conduct, noting a pattern of continuous violations.

Judge Tahir Abbas Supra remarked that the last request for exemption was made during a rally when the defendant was reportedly fine on the 8th. In response, Advocate Zahoor-ul-Hassan assured the court that if the exemption was granted today, Ali Amin would appear.

However, Judge Tahir Abbas Supra rejected the request for exemption and issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Ali Amin Gandapur, Waqas Qayyum Abbasi, Raja Rashid Hafeez, and Aamir Mahmood Kiani.

Additionally, the court declared Umar Tanveer Butt a proclaimed offender due to his continuous absence.

The PTI leaders are facing charges under terrorism laws at the I-9 police station.

Judge Tahir Abbas Supra accepted Faisal Javed’s request for exemption from attendance and adjourned the case until October 3.

The judge remarked that relief could not be granted every time without valid reasons. The Anti-Terrorism Court also rejected the bail application of Ali Amin Gandapur in the judicial complex vandalism case.

The defense attorney claimed that the roads are blocked and that he has been in contact, submitting that Ali Amin Gandapur could appear. He asked the court to grant one more opportunity, and promised before the court that Ali Amin would appear before it.

The judge responded that relief could not be given each time without a valid reason, observing that a date of the defendant’s choice was provided last time.

After issuing the non-bailable arrest warrants for Ali Amin Gandapur, the ATC judge Tahir Abbas Supra also rejected his bail application.
