BANNU – At least four people were killed in Bannu when terrorists opened fire on members of a local peace committee, the police said on Tuesday.
The attack took place in the Howaid area as the committee members were returning from a jirga in Gulbuddin Landai.
According to authorities, the assailants had set up an ambush and opened indiscriminate fire, killing four individuals, including a father and his son.
The police launched a search operation in the area and have cordoned it off to apprehend the attackers.
The bodies of the deceased have been shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital for post-mortem and further procedures.
The security forces assured that investigations are underway to identify and arrest the perpetrators.
