Aslam regrets delay in completion of cluster development project

Punjab Industries & Trade Minister Mian Aslam Iqbal on Monday said that Cluster Development Project is of great importance regarding increasing economic activities, exports, productivity and competitiveness of the province.
He was presiding over a meeting at Punjab Small Industries Corporation office in which Cluster Development Project was being comprehensively reviewed. PSIC MD Manzar Javed Ali, UNIDO experts and CID team participated in the meeting.
Technical assistance of UNIDO experts and collaboration of World Bank was provided for the completion of this project. By failing to get desired results of this programme being launched in 2016 was regrettable, he added. This project will be made meaningful and result-oriented by making due consultation with all the stakeholders.
“This important public interest project should be expeditiously moved forward and I want positive results out of it”, he stated. All stakeholders should deem this project a challenge and work forward as a team and directed that traders and industrialists should also be taken into confidence with regard to development of cluster development programme.
Merely making an institution was not enough but its objectives should also be achieved, he concluded. The PSIC MD also assured that targets set regarding cluster development project will be achieved during current year.
