Condemns police raid at PTI leader’s home in Lahore

PML-N senior leader and Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif has said that the government will not let anyone spread anarchy in the country, stressing that any “armed invasion” of Islamabad will be thwarted with full force.

Speaking on the floor of the National Assembly on Tuesday, Asif while referring to the PTI long march against the PML-N-led coalition government said if “armed groups” tried to spread anarchy in the country then the law will take its course.

“[The government] will thwart ‘armed invasion’ of Islamabad with full force… if the writ of the state is challenged then the law will take its own course. Make no mistake,” he remarked.

The defence minister also condemned the police raid at the home of Justice (retd) Nasira, mother PTI Senator Walid Iqbal.

Asif said when political leaders make statements such as “bloody march” then arrests are made.

He further said that during the previous PTI government the PML-N and other leaders were arrested on baseless charges and victimised. “When bulldozers were being driven on us, no one’s conscience was awakened.”

The PML-N leader said former prime minister Nawaz Sharif was removed from power twice but he never attacked ‘institutions’ and surrendered himself before the law. “We will not let anyone blackmail Pakistan.
