Police officer has been apprehended for his suspected involvement in extortion and drug trafficking.

According to reports, law enforcement authorities conducted an intelligence-driven operation along the Karachi Super Highway, leading to the arrest of ASI Imran, who was allegedly on duty at Gulshan-e-Maymar.

During the operation, drugs were seized from his possession. Subsequent investigations revealed startling details, as a suspect detained earlier disclosed receiving the weapon used in a crime from a police officer.

Upon probing further, it was discovered that the motorcycle involved was registered under ASI Imran’s name, and he was allegedly attempting to shield the arrested suspect. Further intensifying the case, ASI Imran was apprehended from Mominabad on charges of extortion, leading to the registration of a case against him. This incident adds to recent concerns over police misconduct in Karachi.

Not long ago, another police officer was detained for suspected involvement in various crimes including robberies, short-term kidnappings, and extortion. Reports indicate that the accused officer, along with a colleague, was implicated in the robbery of a rickshaw driver during official duty hours.

Both officers, stationed at the Tipu Sultan police station, reportedly targeted citizens in the Saddar area, where they abducted a citizen briefly, demanding an extortion sum of Rs30,000 for his release.
