Chairman of the Pakistan Ulema Council and Coordinator of the National Paigham-e-Aman Committee, Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi, held an important meeting with former Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby at his residence in London.
The meeting focused on the prevailing global situation, particularly efforts to establish peace around the world, promote interfaith harmony, strengthen contacts among religious leaders of different faiths, and enhance the practical role and joint efforts of religious leadership in combating extremism and terrorism.
The two leaders agreed that, in view of the prevailing global circumstances, leading religious figures and influential leadership from different faiths should come together for the cause of global peace. They decided to initiate contacts at the preliminary level to advance joint efforts for peace, dialogue, tolerance and mutual respect.
Former Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby appreciated the efforts of Pakistan’s Army Chief, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, for global and regional peace.
