Armed encounter between the security forces and the militants in Charsadda district on Thursday led to the martyrdom of a soldier and a civilian while four men in uniform sustained serious injuries. A terrorist was also mowed down by the security forces in an Intelligence Based Operation.
Reports reaching here say the clash occurred in Najeeb Koroona area of Khanmai in Charsadda where the Army led forces including counter terrorism department acted on a tip off and raided the house of one Gul Nazak where a terrorist was killed. The security forces had cordoned off the whole area during the operation that according to sources started before dawn and continued for several hours.
During the shootout with the militants, who offered resistance, a security personnel, Wajid was martyred. A civilian, identified as Yasir, also lost his life in the operation. Two Pakistan Army personnel and two personnel of CTD were also injured in the operation. They were later shifted to Peshawar.
The security forces are reported to have kicked off search and net operation following the incident yet there were no reports of arrests of the criminals.
