Army Chief says nothing more important than Pakistanis’ safety as illegal Afghans exit near

RAWALPINDI – Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir said the safety and security of all Pakistanis was of paramount importance and could not be compromised at any cost, the military’s media wing said.

COAS made these remarks during National Security Workshop that was organized at the National Defence University for the repatriation and deportation of illegal foreigners.

Gen Asim Munir said the Armed Forces of Pakistan and intelligence setups battled menace of terrorism in an exemplary manner despite sustained and varied support of inimical forces.

He however remained optimistic to eradicate the menace with the continued support of the people of Pakistan. The top general called on intelligentsia and civil society to ensure that people, especially youth stay aware and steadfast against a hostile propaganda onslaught being launched through soft offensive against the state institutions of Pakistan.

The participants also discussed a host of measures being taken to end activities of the illegal spectrum including smuggling, power theft, narcotics prevalence, border control measures, and repatriation of illegal foreigners from Pakistan, ISPR said.

COAS further underscored economic positivity generated by multiple steps, especially the Special Investment Facilitation Cell, saying forces are fully engaged in enabling National and Provincial responses in different domains in step with other institutions of the state for the collective good of the people of Pakistan.

The development comes as Pakistani set deadline to evict undocumented immigrants, including Afghan nationals, amid sharp rise in terror cases.
