ISLAMABAD – All entry and exit points of the federal capital have been sealed while major roads are blocked in twin cities for traffic as PTI is set to hold a protest at D-Chowk despite warning of action from government.

Keeping in view the situation, schools and other educational institutions have been closed in order to avoid any untoward incident. Association of the private schools in Rawalpindi and Islamabad said the safety of the students is top priority for them. “We cannot take any risks as a political party has announced a protest in Islamabad.”

Roads Closed for Traffic

Following roads have been closed for traffic by placing containers:

Red Zone in Islamabad is completely sealed

Faizabad,

Sector I-8,

IJ Principal Road,

Margalla Road

Murree Road

Islamabad Expressway

Sangjani

Sector G-11 Chowk

Golra Mor

26 Number Chowki

Metro Bus Service Partially Suspended

The administration has partially suspended Metro Bus Service, limiting it to only inside Islamabad. The service will not be available from Rawalpindi Saddar Chowk to IJP Road while it will be operation from IJP to Pak Secretariat.

Rangers, Army Called In

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said on Thursday that army and paramilitary troops have been called in to maintain law and order situation in the federal capital.

During a press conference in Islamabad, Naqvi stated that if anyone attempts to cause a disturbance, there will be no leniency or concessions for them. The police are fully prepared, and there will be no relaxation in security arrangements. Paramilitary forces, Rangers, and the Army have been called in. He urged the leadership of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf to reconsider their call for protest, stating that they have until tomorrow to think it over.

He said the Malaysian Prime Minister is in the capital for a three-day official visit, while the arrival of a high-level Saudi delegation and the Prime Minister of China is also scheduled this month.
