LAHORE — PML-N government’s key project ‘Apni Chhat Apna Ghar’ housing scheme was launched to provide affordable housing schemes across the region to empower families to get housing.
Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz alongside with Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif inaugurated scheme. The launch ceremony was held at Expo Center in Lahore, and it saw significant turnout of government officials, beneficiaries, and citizens, as both leaders personally distributed loan checks to eligible applicants.
Sharing her views at inauguration ceremony, CM Maryam Nawaz emphasized that initiative was originally proposed by Nawaz Sharif, who has remained closely involved in its development. She mentioned earmarking Rs700 billion to provide loans for the construction of halfg million houses over next five years.
Maryam shared that more than five lac applications were already received and that the application process is designed to be straightforward, requiring only a CNIC and proof of land ownership. This year alone, 100,000 interest-free loans will be issued, with repayments structured to minimize financial burden.

Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) has been instrumental in ensuring a smooth and transparent application process. Monthly loan installments will not exceed Rs 15,000, and repayments will occur in two installments instead of four, with a three-month grace period before any payments are due.
On the political front, Maryam expressed confidence in Pakistan’s development trajectory, criticizing opposition tactics aimed at creating unrest. She asserted that divisive politics are losing relevance and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to public welfare, including health, education, and job creation, extending support to all provinces, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The launch of the housing scheme marks a significant step toward addressing the housing needs of thousands of families in Punjab.
