APHC leader Musaddiq Aadil passes away

In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, APHC leader, Mohammad Musaddiq Aadil passed away at his hometown in Sopore, today.

Musaddiq Aadil was among prominent pro-freedom leaders and was an uncompromising campaigner against Indian occupation of Jammu and Kashmir.

He had been ill for several months. His funeral was held at Iqbal Market in Sopore town. He was jailed for several years after 1965. He was also a member of the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples League and currently chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Political Front. The younger brother of the leader was arrested and disappeared in custody by Indian troops in early 1990s in Sopore town.

More than a thousand people, including APHC leaders, traders and civil society members participated in the Namaz-e-Janaza of APHC leader Musadiq Aadil at Iqbal Market (old-Eidgah) in Sopore town.

Senior APHC leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in a statement in Srinagar expressed grief and sorrow over the demise of Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Political Front Chairman, Musadiq Aadil.

He paid rich tributes to Musadiq Aadil for his services towards the freedom movement and the Kashmiri people, saying his demise has created a big void in the ranks of the organisation and the movement.

Hailing the late Hurriyat leader for his political insight, foresight and understanding of the Kashmir issue, he said that Musadiq Aadil carried forward the peaceful programmes of the Hurriyat leadership with full sincerity and dedication.

The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Vice Chairman Ghulam Ahmed Gulzar in a statement has expressed grief and sorrow over the sad demise of prominent pro-freedom leader Muhammad Musaddiq Aadil. He said that Musaddiq Aadil had dedicated his life to the freedom movement and his entire life is full of sacrifices. Gulzar said that the deceased remained behind bars and was tortured for years for representing Kashmiri masses. He offered sincere condolences to the family of Musaddiq Adil. The APHC leader said that services and struggle of the departed leader would be written in golden words in the history. He vowed that mission of Musaddiq Aadil will be accomplished at all costs.

Other APHC leaders and organizations including Syed Bashir Andrabi, Ghulam Muhammad Khan Sopori, Fazle Haq Qureshi, Jammu and Kashmir Peoples League, Mulim League, Muslim Conference, APHC-AJK leader and representative of JKPPF in AJK Hassan-al-Bana and Pasban-e-Hurriyat also expressed solidarity with the bereaved family and said Musaddiq Aadil had struggled all his life for his people and their right to self-determination. He suffered incarceration and torture by the brutal occupation forces of India but remained resolute.

They prayed for heavenly abode for Musaddiq Aadil and conveyed their condolences to his family and well wishers. G N Shaheen Advocate and Advocate NA Ronga and other members of High Court Bar Association at a meeting in Srinagar paid tributes to the legendary politician. The Bar Association has lost a good friend and a zealous patriot, they said.—KMS
