In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) and other Hurriyat leaders and organisations have extended greetings of Eid-ul-Azha to the people of Pakistan and Kashmir.
The APHC General Secretary, Molvi Bashir Ahmad Irfani, in a statement issued in Srinagar said that Eid-ul-Adha was being celebrated in occupied Kashmir at a time when the anti-Kashmir and communal forces were engaged in vicious attempts to change the Muslim identity and disputed status of the territory.
He said India has turned occupied Kashmir into a big jail on the occasion of this holy day while ban has already been imposed on Eid prayers and mosques and shrines have been locked. He deplored the silence of the world community over the illegal actions taken by India on and after August 05, last year, in occupied Kashmir.
He asked the people to remember on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha the families of the martyrs who sacrificed their today for the batter future of the Kashmiris. He said, “We all have to renew our commitment on the occasion of this day that we will continue every possible effort to carry forward the martyrs’ mission.”
The Jammu and Kashmir Youth Social Forum Chairman, Umar Aadil Dar in a statement in Srinagar, extending greetings to the Muslim world and people of the territory on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha, wished them peace, well-being, prosperity and respite from bloodshed. While referring to the Kashmir and Palestine issues, he said that there should be an integrated approach to make a halt to the current tense and difficult situations across the world.
Umar Aadil Dar expressed deep concern over the continued bloodshed and brutalities carried by imperialistic and colonial forces in Kashmir, Palestine, Yemen, Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan and said that the world powers must play role in peaceful settlement of the disputes.
The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Social Peace Forum, Advocate Devender Singh Behl, in his statement issued in Jammu extended his greetings to the people of Pakistan and Kashmir on Eid-ul-Azha. He deplored that illegally detained Hurriyat leaders including Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Aasiya Andrabi and Nayeem Ahmed Khan were still languishing in jails and were not released to celebrate Eid with their families. Devender Singh Behl urged the Indian government to release them so that they could also enjoy Eid with his families.
Tehreek-e-Wahdat-e-Islami spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar congratulated the Muslim Ummah, in general, and Kashmiri Muslims, in particular, on Eid-ul-Adha and urged the wealthy Kashmiris to share the joys of Eid with the victims of Indian state terrorism. He said, Eid-ul-Azha teaches us self-sacrifice so we should take special care of the needs of the families of martyrs and illegally detained Hurriyat leaders and activists languishing in different jails of India and the territory.
He said that Kashmiris would get the real joy of Eid only when they were freed from the illegal Indian occupation and they could offer Eid prayers and perform other religious duties in mosques, imambargahs and Eidgahs.
The Chairman of Tehreek-e-Istiqlal, Mushtaq Ahmed Butt, in his statement, greeting the Kashmiri people on Eid-ul-Adha, asked them to remember the families of martyred youth. He said that on the happy occasion, the philanthropists should take care of the daughters, widows and heirs of martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of their homeland. He added that the people of Kashmir should also remember the families of illegally detained Hurriyat leaders and activists.—KMS
