A child died when a stray kite string slit his throat open while going on a bike along with his father on Sunday.
According to police and rescue officials, three-year-old Khizar was taking a ride with his father Awais on a motorbike sitting on the front when a merciless kite string slit his throat open.
The poor father rushed his child to the Mayo Hospital but before getting any medical aid, Khizar succumbed to his injury. After the incident, DG Operations Sajid Kiyani suspended SHO Masti Gate Police Muhammad Zahid Nawaz.
The DG Operations demanded an explanation from DSP Ali Akhtar regarding the incident of kite flying. He said such incidents would not be tolerated.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Usman Buzdar expressed sorrow and grief over the death of the minor child and conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family.
The chief minister expressed his ire over the kite-flying incidents in the city, saying these are intolerable. Ordering strict action against the violators of the kite-flying ban, Buzdar has sought a report from the CCPO Lahore about Sunday’s tragic incident.
The government has outlawed kite flying and the use of metallic strings as the sport has claimed so many lives across the country.
