An annual traditional poetry program called “Laghman Sarsabz” was launched in Laghman province.

This poetry event is held every year in the spring, with several poets and cultural figures from various provinces participating.

Poet Nazir Quraishi said, “It reduces the distance between the people and the government and conveys the messages in people’s hearts to each other through poetry.”

Another poet, Hidayatullah Mashwani, said: “What cannot be expressed in public speech can be clearly conveyed to others through poetry, and people can understand it. Therefore, I am very happy to be here in Laghman today at a springtime traditional festival.”

Poet Aam Yar Quraishi said, “This poetry event is an opportunity to meet poets and friends after years of not seeing them. Poets from several provinces have come here for the poetry event.”

Officials from the Laghman Directorate of Information and Culture consider such literary programs valuable in strengthening the connection between the government and the people and emphasize that they will continue their efforts in this regard.

Abdul Noor Rasooli, head of the Laghman Directorate of Information and Culture, said: “The aim of organizing this poetry event is to bring together poets, writers, and cultural enthusiasts, and through this to express affection for the people. Let us unite our compatriots with the language of poetry and praise the people with the language of poetry.”

According to the Laghman Directorate of Information and Culture, books and readings and writing-related displays were also showcased at this poetry event to encourage people to read and write.

The Gul-e-Lala Poetry Gathering has begun in Sheberghan, Jowzjan.

Local officials aim to support poets, writers, and also to promote the culture of reading among the youth.

Ahmad Shahrokh Joinda, the head of Culture and Tourism for the Jowzjan Department of Information and Culture, stated: “We fully support poets, writers, cultural figures, and cultural enthusiasts of Jowzjan province, and we strive to support poets by organizing such programs.”

During the ceremony, several poets and writers called for financial support and the publication of their works by the Ministry of Information and Culture.

Sayed Mohammad Abedi, a poet and writer, said: “Currently, our poets hold a pen in one hand and their livelihood in the other and face economic difficulties. We demand support for this segment of society, which represents the spirituality and soul of the community. They are the writers and the history makers.”

Mohammad Zaker Waheedyar, another poet and writer, suggested: “They should cooperate in publishing the poems or works of poets and also promote more such poetry gatherings to develop new talents.”

The Deputy Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development, Sharafuddin Muslim, at the event urged poets and writers in the province to reflect realities through their poetry and writing and to make officials aware of their shortcomings.

“Express truth in your poems, let your poetry show what writers and literature enthusiasts are interested in, and reveal the facts. Another point is that they should gently advise officials through their poetry to also make an effort in this regard,” said Sharafuddin Muslim.

According to information from the Jowzjan Department of Information and Culture, dozens of other programs are also planned to be launched this year with the goal of supporting poets, cultural figures, and promoting reading among the youth in the province.—Tolonews
