Amend to rules of business for South Punjab a historic step

Additional Chief Secretary South Punjab Capt (retd) Saqib Zafar has termed the amendment to rules of business as a historic step, saying that the government wants to resolve problems of the residents of South Punjab at their doorstep.

“The South Punjab Secretariat has been given financial and administrative powers.” Additional Chief Secretary South Punjab Capt (retd) Saqib Zafar was presiding over an important meeting at the South Punjab Secretariat after the amendment to the rules of business.

The meeting was attended by the Secretaries of the administrative departments of South Punjab.

He said that the secretaries of South Punjab have been given the same powers of promotion, transfer and recruitment from grade 1 to 16 scale as the provincial secretaries.

While Grade 1 to 18 employees will not have to go to Lahore for medical, GP fund and other matters.

He further said that various authorities of South Punjab have also been subordinated to the Secretariat, further amendments in the rules of business would be made if required and more departments would be transferred to the South Punjab Secretariat in due course of time.

He also directed to expedite work on project of launching e-filing system in the administrative departments of South Punjab and to launch e-filing system in the agriculture department next month as a model project.

Housing and Physical Planning, Finance, Local Government, Forests, Fisheries and Wildlife, Services, Local Government Secretaries and Additional Secretary I&C also attended the meeting.
