A meeting was held on Friday at the Embassy of Pakistan in Berlin between the Ambassador of Pakistan to Germany, Ms. SaqlainSyedah, and Saud Bin Nauman, a Munich-based journalist and prominent member of the Pakistani community in Germany. The meeting covered matters of community interest and the embassy’s efforts for the betterment of the community in different fields.
During the conversation, the Ambassador spoke about some of the individual cases the embassy is currently pursuing. Among them, she mentioned the recent tragic case of a Pakistani student who drowned in Lake Werbellinsee, around 50 kilometres north of Berlin. She said the embassy has remained in constant contact with the grieving family and the German authorities, all possible efforts are being made to recover the student’s body, and there is hope that it will be found soon.
Mr. Nauman presented ideas for engaging Pakistani professionals working in leading German companies. He proposed bringing them together on a single platform so that their experience can guide other community members and young Pakistanis seeking to build their careers in Germany. It was agreed that practical steps will soon be taken in this regard, and details will follow.
The issue of Kashmir also came under discussion. It was noted that Pakistan’s point of view on Kashmir has, in the past, not been presented strongly enough at the EU level — a gap that is then filled by negative propaganda against Pakistan. Both sides agreed that Pakistani missions in EU countries must make serious efforts to raise the issue effectively in European forums, including the EU Council.
The Ambassador also recalled the cross-cultural events held during her tenure, which brought the Pakistani and German communities closer. As her tenure approaches its end, she thanked the Pakistani community in Germany for its continued support and extended her best wishes for the newly assigned ambassador.
Separately, Mr. Nauman met Dr. SohailAftab, the newly appointed Press Counsellor of the embassy, and congratulated him on assuming his new role.
The discussions were aimed at uplifting the Pakistani community in Germany, strengthening its bond with the embassy, and ensuring the concerns of overseas Pakistanis are heard at every level.
