Punjab Assembly Speaker Ch Parvez Elahi has said that for inter-faith harmony, Islamic teachings and law and order in the country during Muharrum-ul-Haram, all will have to strive together, all parties together should implement on the Code of Ethics which Mutahedda Ulema Board has issued in this regard and curb the elements spreading chaos in the country.
He was talking to Ulema Council and Mutaheda Ulema Board Chairman Maulana Tahir Ashrafi who called on him called on Thursday. Provincial Law Minister Basharat Raja was also there. They exchanged views on matters of mutual interest including law and order during Muharrum-ul-Haram and promotion of Islamic teachings.
Parvez Elahi said that services of Maulana Tahir Ashraf as Chairman, Ulema Council and Mutahedda Ulema Board are quite commendable. His efforts regarding promotion of Islamic teachings are viewed with appreciation.
He said that for inter-faith harmony, Islamic teachings and law and order in the country during Moharrum-ul-Haram, all will have to strive together, all parties together should implement on the Code of Ethics which Mutahedda Ulema Board has issued in this regard and curb the elements spreading chaos in the country.
Ch Parvez Elahi said that respect and tolerance of all divinatory religions and books and respectable Islamic personalities is compulsory for everyone, during Muharrum-ul-Haram and other religious festivals Ulema of all schools of thoughts have been consulted previously and will also be consulted in future so that conspiring elements can be eliminated.
Maulana Tahir Ashrafi said that as the Punjab chief minister your tenure was the singular one during which no sectarian incident occurred during Muharrum-ul-Haram, safar and other Islamic months and festivities, as the CM you prepared SOPs after consultation with Ulema of all schools of thoughts.
He said that Ulema of all schools of thoughts should ensure law and order and tolerance and respect all divinatory books, religions and sacred Islamic personalities.
