LAHORE – The Japanese animated film Grave of the Fireflies was screened at the Alhamra Film Club under the Lahore Arts Council on December 30, captivating audiences with its poignant portrayal of war and humanity.

Directed by Isao Takahata and based on a story by Akiyuki Nosaka, the film highlights the devastating impact of war, the suffering of children, and the importance of empathy and peace. Through the innocent eyes of children, it vividly conveys the human cost of conflict, leaving a lasting impression on viewers.

The Alhamra Film Club aims to bring thought-provoking and globally significant stories to the public. By promoting reflection, dialogue, and creative expression, the club seeks to nurture empathy, strengthen human connections, and introduce young audiences to world cinema while enhancing cultural awareness.

Chairman Alhamra Razi Ahmed said the club continues to showcase meaningful national and international films, drawing large audiences who appreciate the messages conveyed through cinema.

Executive Director Alhamra, Muhammad Nawaz Gondal, added that the Film Club has consistently presented high-quality films throughout the year. In 2025, Alhamra hosted a series of record-breaking screenings, further enriching Lahore’s cultural and artistic landscape.
