Note that it is a prominent member of the “Committee The Ten African Union” committees concerned with reforming the UN Security Council.

Algeria will continue to work to defend Africa’s issues and interests in the fields of peace, security and development, and its legitimate right to play an active role in the international system.

Algeria will adhere, as the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, said “Hearing the voice of the situation, The United African Union, which stresses the necessity of enabling our continent to obtain two permanent seats in the Council Security, and raising its representation quota in the category of non-permanent seats in this council from 3 to 5 seats”. “It is an imperative necessity to achieve a more representative, fair and balanced international system.” (Excerpt from his speech at the 36th African Summit, Addis Ababa-02/18/2023).

This is the commitment that the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad, Mr. Ahmed Attaf renewed by identifying Algeria’s priority commitments in “Promoting peaceful settlement of conflicts. Consolidating partnerships and the role of regional organizations. Moving forward the “Women, Peace and Security” (WPS) Agenda. And providing an additional momentum to the international fight against terrorism”.)Excerpt from his speech on Algeria’s candidacy for membership of the Security Council in New York on 30th May, 2023 (

– ALGERIA AND PAKISTAN, BRIGHT FUTURE OF PARTNERSHIP:

Algeria and Pakistan, a long and rich history of solidarity and cooperation, similar points of views about important political international issues, a strong mutual support in different regional and international organization.

Both countries are major pivotal in their regions, possess considerable wealth and potential. High competencies and expertise, diversified trade exchange opportunities and fruitful partnership in various sectors such as industry, agriculture, energy, mines and modern technologies.

Algeria is keen to promote “economic diplomacy” by diversifying and developing foreign partnerships in various regions of the world, especially in the Asian region in which Pakistan is a strategic country.

In this context, the Algerian Embassy in Islamabad coordinates with all official and economic institutions in the two countries to activate exchange relations and accompany companies and businessmen in their activities in both directions, by providing the necessary information and facilities that would help advance bilateral relations to the desired level of partnership.

During the last two years, 2022-2023, we witnessed a positive interaction between business communities in both countries, in the chambers of commerce and industry that we visited in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Karachi, Lahore, Sialkot, Gujrat, Gujranwala, we also recorded an increasing influx of Pakistani economic operators to Algeria to participate in different exhibitions, especially the Algiers International Fair (FIA) in June 2023, more than 20 companies participated. Note that the Algerian embassy granted around 160 Business visa in 2023.

Positive indicators are promising a new phase that requires greater efforts in promoting and expanding communication/ interactions and taking initiatives that would develop cooperative relations between Algeria and Pakistan in several areas, especially in trade, investment and technical cooperation.
