Ambassador Lakhal Benkelai and Madame hosted a glittering reception in the federal capital to celebrate national day his country. A large number of guests graced the event. They included diplomats, senior civil and military officials as well as prominent people from various segments of the Pakistani society. Federal Minister Azam Swati was the chief guest.
Pakistan and Algeria are bound by deep rooted relations in terms of history, culture and religion. Pakistan government and people had strongly supported the freedom movement of Algeria. The people of Algeria won freedom from the French colonialists after a relentless struggle. The Algerian people made heroic sacrifices in pursuit of independence. The Algerian nation remembers Pakistan’s consistent support for their cause.
They also remember that Pakistan not only morally supported the Algerian people during their freedom struggle but it also raised its voice for Algerian freedom fighters at the United Nations and other international forums. Algeria ultimately emerged as People’s Democratic Republic. Algeria has set itself on the path of place and development. Pakistan and Algeria are cooperating in various fields. However there is more scope for greater and deeper bilateral cooperation. The two countries support each other at international forums. Their world view is identical.
