The Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock held the 30th agricultural product exhibition today (Wednesday) in Kabul.
Officials of the Islamic Emirate at the opening of the exhibition said that they are striving to support farmers, provide alternative livelihood services, manage the country’s water resources, mechanize agriculture, and market agricultural products.
At the exhibition, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, deputy prime minister for economic affairs of the Islamic Emirate, said: “Agriculture and livestock farming are important for the economic sector, constitute a major part of exports, play a valuable role in reducing poverty, and create job opportunities.”
The prime minister, in a message read by his representative Abdul Sattar Saeed, said: “The agriculture and livestock sector in Afghanistan is considered an important sector in economic development. For this purpose, the Islamic Emirate is committed to creating the necessary facilities for the country’s farmers and livestock owners.”
Meanwhile, the political and administrative deputies of the Prime Minister’s Office also emphasized support for investors in Afghanistan’s agricultural sector.
Mawlawi Abdul Kabir, the Political Deputy for the Prime Minister’s Office, said: “It is our collective responsibility to pay attention to gardening and livestock farming in the country. Afghanistan needs agricultural development and we must find suitable markets for our agricultural products.”
Mawlawi Abdul Salam Hanafi, the deputy PM for administrative affairs, who was another speaker at this event, said: “We continue our efforts in marketing our agricultural products.”
Officials from the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock also said that the purpose of holding this exhibition is to support the produce of farmers.
The Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock, Sadr Azam Osmani, said: “Projects in the agriculture sector such as the Qush Tepa Canal and similar ones have been inaugurated before, and we are moving towards self-sufficiency.”
The exhibition will last for four days, and various agricultural products from across Afghanistan are displayed in 263 booths.—Tolonews
