LAHORE – In a significant development, Afghanistan’s renowned leg-spinner, Rashid Khan, is unlikely to take part in the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 9 due to a lower-back surgery.

Afghanistan’s Head Coach Jonathan Trott who emphasized the cautious approach the team management is adopting to address Rashid’s injury confirmed the development.

Rashid Khan, a pivotal figure in Afghanistan’s cricket squad, had missed out on participating in both the Big Bash League (BBL) and the recent T20I against India.

While he is currently traveling with the team, he has not fully recovered.

Coach Jonathan Trott expressed the team’s commitment to ensuring Rashid’s full recovery, stating, “He is an impactful player, and we need to ensure he is 100% ready. He should not be rushed back from such surgery. He is working hard, and he is here with the team,”.

Trott further highlighted Rashid’s dedication to the Afghan national team, stating that when the leg-spinner is ready, he will be the first to step onto the field. Rashid has undergone thorough assessments and check-ups to ascertain his fitness levels, with no specific timeframe set for his return.
