PESHAWAR – Four militants, including Afghan national Ubaidullah Saad, were killed during a security operation in Kurram district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The operation was conducted on September 8 on the basis of intelligence information, the report said.
Ubaidullah Saad was identified as a resident of the Shahi Qala village in Afghanistan’s Logar province. Authorities said he was involved in several terrorist activities in Pakistan.
Officials reiterated that there would be no compromise on maintaining peace and protecting the lives and property of citizens. They said operations against elements hostile to the state would continue without discrimination.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi praised the security forces for what he described as a successful operation in Kurram and commended their capabilities following the killing of four militants.
Naqvi said security operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa aimed at restoring peace were commendable. He described the security forces as a source of national pride and said the nation stood with them in the fight against terrorism.
The development follows a series of operations reported by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) in different parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to ISPR, security forces killed 21 militants affiliated with what it described as the Indian-backed “Fitna al-Khawarij” during multiple operations and clashes between September 3 and 5.
ISPR said 10 additional militants hiding in the area were killed following a security operation near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in North Waziristan during the night between August 31 and September 1. This brought the reported total number of militants killed in connection with infiltration attempts to 25.
In another clash in North Waziristan, security forces detected the movement of another group of militants along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border and killed seven of them, according to the military’s statement.
Meanwhile, four more militants were killed in two separate clashes in Kohat and Dera Ismail Khan districts during joint operations, ISPR said.
The military said the repeated incidents along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border reinforced Pakistan’s position that the Afghan Taliban government had failed to prevent a terrorist organisation operating under its patronage from using Afghan territory for cross-border terrorism.
ISPR said Pakistan’s security forces remained committed to defending the country’s borders and were conducting clearance operations to eliminate militants in the area.
