ISLAMABAD – The Afghan deputy head of mission was summoned to Pakistan’s Foreign Office, but the reason was written in blood. North Waziristan erupted in flames as terrorists targeted a military camp, leaving four Pakistani soldiers martyred.
Tensions between Islamabad and the Afghan Taliban escalated sharply after four Pakistani soldiers were martyred in deadly terrorist assault on a military camp in North Waziristan.
Foreign Office summoned the Afghan deputy head of mission and delivered a stern demarche, accusing Taliban regime of allowing Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) militants to operate freely from Afghan territory and launch brutal attacks inside Pakistan.
Condemning the incident in the strongest terms, attack was carried out by Khwarij militants linked to the Kharji Gul Bahadur Group, once again exposing what it called Afghanistan’s failure to curb terrorist safe havens.
Officials warned that the continued presence of TTP militants in Afghanistan directly violates Taliban’s assurances and international commitments not to allow Afghan soil to be used against neighbouring countries. Islamabad demanded immediate investigation and decisive action against those responsible for planning and facilitating cross-border terrorism.
Islamabad said it reserves right to defend its sovereignty and will take all necessary measures to respond to terrorist threats originating from across the border.
Army’s military’s media wing, ISPR, revealed chilling details of attack, which took place on December 19 in Boya area of North Waziristan. According to statement, militants belonging to Indian-backed Fitna al Khawarij (TTP) attempted to storm a security forces camp.
Alert troops foiled the infiltration attempt, forcing the attackers into a desperate move. A vehicle packed with explosives was rammed into the outer perimeter wall, triggering a massive blast that caused extensive damage and hit nearby civilian areas, including a mosque.
At least 15 civilians, among them women and children, were injured as nearby homes were damaged in the explosion.
Security forces engaged attackers with precision, killing all four terrorists in a fierce firefight. However, the confrontation claimed the lives of four brave soldiers Havildar Muhammad Waqas, Naik Khanwaiz, Sepoy Sufyan Haider, and Sepoy Riffat, who laid down their lives while defending the nation.
Army said intelligence reports confirmed that attack was orchestrated by militants based in Afghanistan, directly contradicting Taliban claims that no terrorist groups are operating from their territory.
Islamabad reiterated its demand that Afghan Taliban immediately dismantle militant networks and prevent further attacks, warning that it will pursue terrorists, their facilitators, and backers wherever necessary.
