In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, APHC leader and Chairman of Jammu Kashmir Social Peace Forum (JKSPF), Advocate Divender Singh Behal, has said that the Kashmir dispute can be settled permanently through implementation of the UN resolutions that guaranteed the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination.
Advocate Divender Singh Behal in a statement issued in Jammu said that the people of IIOJK had rendered unprecedented sacrifices for the implementation of these resolutions and Indian repression for the last 73 years had failed to suppress their resolve for freedom. The people of the occupied territory with every coming day show much vigour and steadfastness which has forced the international community to take note of daily happenings and unprecedented atrocities committed on them by the Indian troops, he said.
Advocate Behal welcomed the remarks by the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Michelle Bachelet, in her oral update at the 45th Session of the UN Human Rights Council in which she deplored that in IIOJK, incidents of military and police violence against civilians continue including use of pellet guns.—KMS
