Administrative, security plan approved for Cattle Show

Chaired by Punjab Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs Muhammad Basharat Raja, a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Law and Order on Tuesday approved the administrative and security plan for the Horse and Cattle Show to be held in Lahore from March 10 to 12.

The meeting was attended by Punjab Minister for Labour Ansar Majeed Niazi, Chief Secretary, IG Police, ACS Home, CCPO Lahore and other senior officers.

The meeting was informed that the final rehearsal of the Horse and Cattle Show has been held at Fortress Stadium. Under the supervision of the Livestock Department, 34 breeds of cattle from all over the province have shifted to the respective points.

Punjab Law Minister Muhammad Basharat Raja while issuing instructions regarding the arrangements said that for the first time since 2015 the Horse and Cattle Show is being organized which is actually a part of the ongoing Spring Festival and a gift of the Punjab Government to the people. “President Dr. Arif Alvi will be the chief guest in the inaugural ceremony”, the minister said.

He said that horse and cattle events would be held at six places in Lahore including Al-Hamra, Jilani Park, Nishtar Park and others. He said that the arrangements made by the Punjab government for the recent PSL tournament have been extended to the Horse and Cattle Show.

Mohammad Basharat Raja directed that the traffic management arrangements should be thoroughly reviewed to facilitate spectators coming to Fortress Stadium and general public alike. “Citizens should suffer the least. Parking arrangements have been made in and around Fortress Stadium”, he said.

“All departments should ensure close coordination till the last moment”, directed Raja.

He said that there would be programs for students during the day hours while night events will be reserved for the families. The Cabinet Committee also approved Rs.500 million for procurement of new equipment for Punjab Forensic Science Agency.
