Admin fails to check sky-high prices of essential food items

Local administration fails to check the sky high prices of essential food items in Abbottabad district despite formation of at least 30 price fixation committees by the Deputy Commissioner for the holy month of Ramzan who will fix the prices of vegetables and fruits during the entire Ramzan.

The price hike, overcharging and non-availability of seasonal fruit and vegetable in the markets are on the rise as their prices reached highest during the Ramzan all over Hazara division.

Prices of Vegetables are jumped to at least more than double from the first day of Ramzan and especially the onion, Tomato with other vegetables while meat sellers are at their liberty and charging their own rates of meat and mutton which aree being sold at Rs750/= to Rs1400/=Rates of Milk and yogurt are also increased from Rs120= to Rs140/= and Rs140/= to Rs180/.

Fruit sellers are also charging very high prices of banana, Apple, guava, and other items and are also of poor quality. General public has invited the attention of District administration to act swiftly to provide relief to the general public from the overcharging of food items .No action has been take n by the local magistrates and special teams except the sealing of one meat shop which was sealed on the complaint of one citizens and Additional Assistant commissioner Sher Ali has sealed the shop.
