ACP signs MoU with Dow University for Youth Ambassador Program

Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi signs a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dow University about Youth Ambassador Program. President Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi Muhammad Ahmed Shah and Registrar of Dow University of Health Sciences, Dr. AsharAfaq, signed the MoU.   Vice-Chancellor Professor SaeedQureshi was also present on this occasion. President Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi, Muhammad Ahmed Shah, stated that the purpose of the Youth Ambassador Program is to connect the younger generation in educational institutions with cultural activities.

Students from fields such as International Relations, Information Technology, Science and Technology, Law, Health and Sciences, and other disciplines will be able to participate in this program.   He added that it is an honor for the Arts Council to collaborate with such a prestigious institution. The Youth Ambassador Program will prove to be an excellent platform for the youth of Sindh.

The program will be held from Sukkur and Obaro to Karachi while the first phase begins in Karachi. He further remarked that the notion about doctors and engineers have lack of creativity is completely false; they can be singers, writers, and artists as well.   In one of the Arts Council’s programs, all senior professors performed songs.

Dow Medical College (DMC) has been very active in our Youth Festival. Students from your university have also participated in the Youth Festival, where we organized competitions in drama, music, theatre, fine arts, dance, photography, and English writing and youth attend it even on exam days. He mentioned that the Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi is the first cultural institute in Pakistan.

He said we are restoring all the arts councils across Sindh, where we have fine arts and music teachers to whom we pay regular salaries. We have also organized the Pakistan Literature Festival in Lahore, Sukkur, Quetta, Multan, Karachi, and Muzaffarabad in Kashmir. Muhammad Ahmed Shah said that we are creating a data bank in which young people will be categorized according to their creative abilities.

He said we will organize the World Cultural Festival in September, where artists from 33 countries will perform at the Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi, and workshops will also be held. Vice-Chancellor of Dow University of Health Sciences, Professor SaeedQureshi, expressed pride in having their students become part of the Youth Ambassador Program.
