Caretaker Home Minister Sindh Brigadier (Retd) Haris Nawaz has assured Association of Builders and Developers of Pakistan (ABAD) to eradicate land grabbing from Karachi, said that ABAD is playing important role in running more than seventy allied industries related to construction industry and strengthening national economy. He was addressing a meeting with ABAD members here on Saturday at ABAD House.

Chairman ABAD Asif Sumsum, Senior Vice Chairman Ibrahim Habib, Vice Chairman Zeeshan Siddiqui, Chairman Southern Region Mustafa Shaikhani, former chairmen of ABAD, SSP East Irfan Bahadur, SP Jamshed Town Alina Rajpar, other senior Police Officers and ABAD members were present on this occasion.

The Minister said that members of ABAD are playing pivotal role for strengthening the national economy and providing jobs to thousands of people and they need all out support to continue their construction activities for which provincial government is taking all possible steps.

He said that the only city of Pakistan Karachi is capable of supporting the economy and the government is taking every step to bring back glory of Karachi. He said that the caretaker government is cracking down on cross border smuggling of dollars.

The Minister said that caretaker government is busy to control law and order in Sindh, especially street crime in Karachi is largely controlled and action against narcotics is being taken will full force. Addressing the gathering Chairman ABAD Asif Sumsum said that if Sindh Police did not give sacrifice, construction industry in the city may have closed down during 2011 to 2013. He said that despite the resource constraint and adverse situation the Sindh Police is doing their best in Karachi.

He said that construction industry is considered as the back bone of the national economy and it is providing thousands of jobs and homes to people of this country and supporting almost a hundred allied industries. But he lamented that hurdles are being created against the construction industry.

Approvals of construction projects are delayed deliberately and bye laws are changed overnight through notifications, he said adding that investment in construction industry comes to a halt due to unnecessary changing in bye laws. Asif Sumsum said that construction industry is most effected when there is no law and order.

He said that assurance of Minister to provide peaceful environment to builders and developers is appreciable and we hope that the next elected government will also follow this path.
