Ababeel Squad, CGs helped with restoring public confidence in police: CCPO

CCPO Lahore and Additional IG Ghulam Mahmood Dogar has said that the Community Guides (CGs) Programme has proved a great success to provide citizens centric policing to visitors of police stations in respectful and fear-free atmosphere.

“Now citizens feel free and at ease to visit police stations in presence of Police Community Guides for redressal of their grievances.”

The CCPO pointed out that Ababeel Squad will curb crime as well as maintain law and order situation at congested and crimes hotspot areas of the City.

“As a support unit, the role of Ababeel Squad to carrying out effective patrolling and cordon off the crime scene localities has been a great success.

Ababeel Squad has made great efforts to arrest drug dealers, proclaimed offenders as well as alleviate sense of insecurity from citizens by improving visibility through working in group of 20 motorbikes.”

Ghulam Mahmood Dogar was addressing a joint interactive session of Community Guides and personnel of Ababeel Force at District Police Lines Qila Gujjar Singh.

Matters related to efficiency enhancement, improve coordination among Community Guides, SHOs and In-Charges Investigation, resolution of collective issues came under discussion in the session.

Commander Lahore Police Ghulam Mahmood Dogar stressed upon the need for increasing interaction among community guides to share each other experiences while devising a strategy to further facilitate public through better service delivery.

The CCPO lauded the commendable performance of Community Guides and Ababeel Squad in their respective fields and urged them to follow moral values during rendering services to citizens.

Community Guides shared their success stories regarding guiding and helping visitors of police stations with CCPO Lahore.

Ghulam Mahmood Dogar pointed out that the appointment of Community Guides with the rank of Sub-Inspectors and Assistant Sub Inspectors at police stations was the very first step towards change in Thana Culture and promotion of Citizens Centric Policing.

He stressed that though the Community Guides are police officers, actually they are representatives of public in police stations.

The appointment of the Police Community Guides was made by survey as well as secret balloting on the basis of their honesty, integrity, humanity and professionalism to serve the citizens with dedication and respect, understanding the importance and sensitivity of their fresh assignments.

Ghulam Mahmood Dogar further said the Community Guides regularly assist visitors and provide them help and guidance from the gate of police station till their meeting with relevant staff and officers for solutions to their problems.

Ghulam Mahmood Dogar said that launch of Ababeel Force to control crime is a citizens friendly initiative of Lahore Police to serve the humanity on modern lines which has provided maximum relief to the public, creating effective deterrence against criminals.

Ghulam Mahmood Dogar directed the officers concerned to provide barracks for personnel of Ababeel Squad and Muharrar office at Police Lines to raise another contingent of further 20 motorbikes and 40 personnel fully equipped to improve its performance.
