SYDNEY – Aamer Jamal has broken Imran Khan’s 44-year-old record by taking 6 wickets in the Sydney Test.

A notable achievement for Aamer Jamal, who becomes the first Pakistani bowler to claim 18 wickets in his debut series, a feat that usually occurs in three or fewer matches in the history of Pakistan’s Test cricket.

At the Sydney Cricket Ground in the New Year’s Test, Aamer Jamal not only showcased his bowling prowess but also exhibited his batting skills with a splendid innings of 82 runs. His valuable partnership played a crucial role in Pakistan scoring 313 runs in the first innings.

Aamer Jamal, maintaining his stellar performance, further solidified his impact on the match by taking 6 wickets for 69 runs with the ball.

This extraordinary bowling effort dismissed Australia for 299 runs, granting Pakistan a lead of 14 runs. In this process, Aamer Jamal has now equaled the legendary all-rounder Imran Khan’s remarkable feat. After Imran Khan, he is the only Pakistani cricketer to score 80-plus runs and claim six wickets in a single match. Imran Khan achieved this milestone in a Test match against India in 1983.

Aamer Jamal has now become the third Pakistani bowler to hold the title of the best bowling figures in Sydney. The record for the best bowling performance in Sydney by a Pakistani cricketer still belongs to Mohammad Asif, who took 6 wickets for 41 runs in 2010. Imran Khan had achieved the feat in the first innings of the Sydney Test in 1977, taking 6 wickets for 102 runs, and in the second innings, he claimed 6 wickets for 63 runs.
