In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the Awami Action Committee (AAC) has expressed grief over the demise of several personalities associated with the organisation and Kashmiri society.

Among the deceased include AAC Khanyar constituency Secretary, Muhammad Yaqoob Mir; grandmother of Owais Ahmad Bhat of Narwarah; and wife of former Khateeb and Imam of Dargah Hazratbal, late Bashiruddin Farooqui.

The AAC paid rich tributes to the late Muhammad Yaqoob Mir for his organisational and mobilisation services throughout the region, calling him a fearless political activist who made tireless efforts in taking forward the mission and programmes of the Awami Action Committee since the period of Shaheed-e-Millat Mirwaiz Molvi Muhammad Farooq to the present Mirwaiz Umar Farooq.—KMS
