The meeting between Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti in Quetta on Saturday underscored the resolve of both the federal and provincial governments to further strengthen efforts against the surge in terrorist acts in the province. The decision to improve security infrastructure, enhance the professional capacity of Balochistan Counter-Terrorism Force and strengthen the police force are important steps toward meeting the evolving security challenges.
Balochistan has witnessed a worrying rise in terrorist activities in recent times, threatening the lives of innocent people. In response to this, Operation Al-Azm has been launched to counter terrorism and eliminate elements involved in spreading violence and instability. These terrorists, who target civilians, security personnel and judges deserve no leniency and must be dealt with through firm and decisive action. Strong institutions, use of modern technology, improved intelligence capabilities and effective coordination among security agencies are very essential in this regard. The emphasis placed during the meeting on a coordinated operational approach between the federal and provincial governments is, therefore, a positive development. A united strategy will enhance the ability of security forces to respond effectively to emerging threats. At the same time, strengthening the capacity of local police and counter-terrorism institutions is crucial because these forces remain at the forefront of maintaining law and order. Providing them with better training, resources and modern equipment will enable them to perform their responsibilities more effectively and ensure greater security for the people of Balochistan. Peace in Balochistan is essential not only for the province but for the stability and progress of the entire country. Terrorist groups seek to disrupt development, create fear and weaken social harmony, but we are confident that their nefarious designs will be thwarted through national unity, effective governance and the determination of security forces.
