Pakistan on Sunday reported eight deaths in the last 24 hours from novel coronavirus as the number of positive cases surged to 284,481. The nationwide tally of fatalities jumped to 6,093.
According to the latest figures by the National Command and Operation Center 634 persons were tested positive for Covid-19 in 24 hours.
Till now 123,849 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Sindh, 94,360 in Punjab, 34,692 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 15,241 in Islamabad, 11,884 in Balochistan, 2,134 in Azad Kashmir and 2,321 in Gilgit-Baltistan.
Meanwhile, the Balochistan government has released a notification, lifting the restrictions on timings of all “markets, shops, outlets and other major/minor business components”. They were previously allowed to open from 9am to 7pm.
Punjab has reported 137 new Covid-19 cases, down from 183 infections a day earlier, according to the government’s database on coronavirus. This has taken the provincial tally of cases to 94,360. The province has confirmed three more deaths from the virus, taking the total number of fatalities to 2,169.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa health department has reported 96 new infections, taking the province’s tally to 34,635. Eight more deaths were also reported, bringing the death toll to 1,230. Of these, two were reported in the last 24 hours and the others two were added to the tally after previously not being counted in the total.
