Sindh Minister for Information and Local Government Syed Nasir Hussain Shah has said that they will work together to improve the condition of the city.
These views were expressed by Nasir Shah along with Education and Labor Minister Saeed Ghani during a press conference at Commissioner House, Karachi. The provincial minister said that there were difficulties in the relief operation due to heavy rains but the local bodies worked hard even in unfavorable conditions.
The provincial minister said that Karachi has received more rains than the rest of the country and all the ministers, advisers and aides of the Sindh government were on the streets to help the people in the continuous rains. The administration of all the districts also remained fully active and the DMC chairmen including Water Board, Sindh Solid Waste Board were also seen busy in all the rains.
Responding to a question, Nasir Hussain Shah said that an unusual situation had occurred in some places of Central District in the previous spell but now the overall situation remained under control due to timely cleaning of drains.
? Nasir Hussain Shah said in clear words that encroachments on storm drains would not be tolerated under any circumstances as encroachments are a major obstacle in drainage and cleaning of drains.
The provincial minister admitted that some encroachments on the drains have been illegally regularized which will be transparently investigated and those who assisted in the illegal process will not be forgiven.
Nasir Hussain Shah said that unless all the institutions and stakeholders work together, it is difficult to find a permanent solution to the problems.
The Sindh government wants to cooperate with all the institutions for the betterment of Karachi and the province.
Is requested to identify the violations and highlight the positive actions along with pointing out the mistakes.
Meanwhile, In Sindh, many villages and standing, crops over a vast area were effected in Kachho, Dadu district of Sindh after the Nai Gaj river burst its banks following heavy rains.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) in a statement said that recent rains and hill torrents caused damage to Nai Gaj river, breaching the flood protection embankment. Because of the hill torrents and the breach of the embankment, 12 villages were affected.On Sunday after the recent monsoon rains breached the flood protection bund of the Nai Gaj Dam and marooned people residing in surrounding areas, Pakistan Army continued rescue and relief efforts.
“Pakistan Army troops [are] busy in relief & rescue efforts in various areas of Dadu to help people affected by recent hill torrent and breach of Flood Protection Bund of Nai Gaj Dam,” said the ISPR on Sunday
As reported, the situation in Kachho aggravated Saturday morning when heavy rain and water from different streams and hill torrents in the district, as well as the neighbouring Khuzdar and other areas of Kalat division in Balochistan, flooded the Nai Gaj river.
