A bloody land feud in Upper Dir district on Thursday resulted in the killing of at least ten people and serious injuries to equal number of others. The Police said the incident was a result of an old dispute over the ownership of forest in the area
“Ten people were killed and several others got severely injured over a forest dispute in Upper Dir”. The local Police confirmed. The District Police Officer (DPO) Upper Dir said that the tragic incident took place when a few armed men opened fire when a funeral prayer of a person from other party were being offered.
According to the Police authorities a heavy contingent of police has been dispatched to the area after the incident, while the injured have been shifted to District Headquarters Hospital for treatment where the medics have described the condition of many injured as serious.
