The federal capital on Wednesday reported 25 new cases of coronavirus during the last 24 hours while zero deaths reported during this period. This new tally brightens the chances of declaring Islamabad Covid-19 free city in the coming days.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad Muhammad Hamza Shafqaat the federal capital is left with only 2,300 active cases of coronavirus and it is all because of the Health department and district teams’ untiring efforts to bring down the number of infections.
The District Health Officer (DHO) teams are testing and tracing all positive cases at full pace, even if the cases are decreasing, said he adding despite the promising results test runs capacity won’t slow.
In the last twenty-four hours, 331 samples were collected against 54 contacts, including samples taken from animal markets/ bazars that shows all indicators reflect substantial decrease in number of cases as well as new or active cases.
With the latest figures, Islamabad’s total number of positive cases stood at 14,963, deaths at 165 (for the last three consecutive days) and recoveries 12,377.
Presently, the biggest concern for the capital admin is to ensure health guidelines are fully enforced and SOPs implemented at the cattle markets of the federal capital.
In this regard a number of teams daily visit and conduct random tests as well as raids at these markets to see whether the cattle dealers, the government representatives and the customers are following the health guidelines or not.
