NAB holds revenue officer on corruption charges

A key accused was arrested in the NAB Lahore operation on alleged financial corruption in the Revenue Department Lahore. Accused Rafaqat Ali was arrested on charges of allegedly altering land records and collecting crores of rupees.
According to NAB Lahore, accused Rafaqat Ali with the alleged connivance of revenue officials transferred hundreds of kanals of land worth billions of rupees in the area of Mouza Sadhuki and Model Town to the names of co-accused. More than kanals of land were transferred to favored persons.
The accused illegally sold 83 kanals of land in collusion with each other. Revenue officials said that the accused also sold 135 kanals of land of Punjab Cooperative Bank.
According to NAB, the accused Rafaqat Ali made properties worth crores of rupees in the name of himself and his family from the illegally obtained money. Evidence of which has been obtained. NAB officials have produced before the accountability court for physical remand. During the investigation, the accused is expected to make important revelations regarding financial embezzlement and co-accused.
Earlier, Anti-Corruption Lahore Region A had arrested three accused including Tehsildar and Patwari for depriving citizens of land worth Rs 50 crore in a single day. Tehsildar Mujahid Zia posted in Patoki was arrested, anti-corruption officials said.
