Emergency Service Punjab Director General Dr Rizwan Naseer congratulated 47 Rescue Officers including 11 Rescue Officers upgraded to BS 19 and 36 Rescue Officers upgraded to BS-18 in the first phase of up-gradation in pursuance to the Finance Department notification regarding up-gradation of officers upon successful completion of ten years of good regular service.
While addressing the upgraded Rescue Officers, he said that it is a matter of immense pleasure to acknowledge the services of good hard-working Rescue Officers and the main reason for the success of Rescue 1122 is its performance-based evaluation system.
The DG further briefed them that the Rescue Service started from scratch in 2004 and today the Rescue team of the academy has also become the first Rescue team to be classified by INSARAG United Nations in South Asia, which is indeed a great honor for Pakistan.
This level can be maintained through a performance-based model in this life-saving emergency service despite all different kinds of challenges. This is the reason that good performing officers have been upgraded in the next scale and shall be given independent responsibilities so that the standard of the service could be maintained.
He expressed these views in a meeting held at Rescue Headquarters. The meeting was attended by upgraded officers of Rescue Headquarters and Emergency Services Academy. Total 11 Rescue Officers upgraded from BPS-18 to BPS-19 included Dr Foaad Shahzad Mirza, Dr Muhammad Farhan Khalid, Dr Abdur Rahman, Dr Muhammad Azam, Dr Faisal Mehmood, Dr Ejaz Anjum Dr Muhammad Irshadul Haq, Dr Muhammad Ashfaq, Dr Muhammad Natiq Hayat, Dr Abdul Sattar and Syed Kamal Abid.
These officers are being given higher responsibilities with the next scale of monitoring the Emergency Service at divisional level. Besides that 36 Rescue Officers working in BPS-17 working at Rescue Headquarters, academy and districts have been upgraded in BPS-18 with responsibilities of independent command of the districts or wings of the service.
HR Wing Head Dr Foaad Shahzad Mirza apprised the DG that the cases of officers with disciplinary and administrative issues required further review before consideration for time scale up-gradation which also requires good/satisfactory performance and accordingly shall be called for further process of up-gradation next week.
In the end, the DG wished them good luck for new responsibilities and directed them to maintain the standard of the service as the day this Emergency Service starts compromising on its standards we shall not be able to maintain the standard of this model lifesaving emergency service and it shall be an injustice to the public at large.
