The Punjab government has decided to introduce teaching licence for teachers across the province and for the purpose Teaching License Act will be tabled in the Punjab Assembly next month, said Punjab Education Minister Murad Raas on Friday.
Speaking during Question-Hour at The Punjab Assembly, the provincial minister informed that the government has been working on draft of the Teaching Licence Act and will table the draft act in the assembly next month. The Punjab school education minister said that registration of private schools will be put online, adding that shortage of teachers in government schools will be overcome in the next month.
Other hand, members of the opposition shouted slogans and created ruckus during speech of the minister. Murad Raas, however, continued his speech and lambasted the PML-N over “what he called” poor performance.
“The PML-N ruled Punjab province for 10 years, and today its members complain about lack of schools in their areas,” he launched a diatribe against the rival party, adding that now opposition members should sit silent. Raas pointed out that along with Teaching Licence Act, the government is also working on Private Educational Institutional Act.
Meanwhile, members of opposition bench kept on shouting slogans and tore apart copies of the session agenda.
In his speech, PML-N member Rana Mashood challenged the figure presented by the education minister. “The PTI government and its minister are trying to take credit for the projects and envisaged and initiated by former Punjab chief minister Shehbaz Sharif”, he added.
Mashood comment met with loud laugh by the treasury members.
However, upon completion of time, Panel of Chairman Main Shafi adjourned the assembly session until 2pm, Monday.
Earlier, the House proceedings started one hour and 50 minute with Panel of Chairman Main Shafi in the chair.
