Religious scholars from across the country said on Thursday that people should make obligatory sacrifices on Eidul Azha whereas money spent on non-obligatory sacrifices should be given to the needy. In a press conference, the scholars said that people should purchase sacrificial animals online or do sacrifices though reputable institutions to fulfil their religious obligation following proper precautionary measures and standard operating procedure issued by the government in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.
The scholars further added Eidul- Azha prayers would be offered with the same preventive measures as Eidul Fitr. “The district administration is in contact with the Ulema,” the schorls said. “Madrassas and mosques will not have any problem in matters of animal skins and sacrifices. Madrassas, which have been given no-objection certificates in previous years will also get permission this year as well.”
The scholars appealed to the philanthropist community to give alms and donations to the deserving for the sake of Allah. Responding to a question, the leaders said that there was harmony among all schools of thought in the country and no individual or group would be allowed to spread chaos in the country. “The Punjab Assembly passing the Punjab Tahaffuz-e-Bunyad-e-Islam Bill 2020, yesterday is a step in the right direction,” they said. “It is the responsibility of the opposition and the government to get the National Assembly to pass such laws immediately where there is at least 20-years of punishment [imprisonment] and case should be tried under anti-terrorism act.”
In reply to another question, the leaders said that the Prime Minister Imran Khan should take interest in the matters of Ruet-e-Hilal Committee as people follow it to celebrate Eids and fast in Ramazan. “Fawad Chaudhry should share his information with the Ministry of Religious Affairs so that the people do not get confused and a permanent solution can be found.”
Chairman Pakistan Ulema Council Hafiz Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi, Syed Ziaullah Shah Bukhari, Maulana Zia-ul-Haq Naqshbandi, Allama Abdul Haq Mujahid, Maulana Muhammad Rafiq Jami and other religious scholars were part of the press conference.
