UMT holds e-moot on ‘Covid 19: The Changing Horizons’

University of Management and Technology’s Institute of Clinical Psychology organized 1st international e-conference on ‘Covid 19: The Changing Horizons’ on Wednesday. The purpose of the conference was to get various dimensions on the prevailing scenario of Covid-19 with regional and global thinkers and professionals.
Renowned key note speakers & resource persons, UMT Rector Dr Aslam, Dr Marshaley J. Baquiano University of the Philippines, Dr Rebecca K. Fox, Ph.D. George Mason University(USA), Dr. Anya (USA) , Prof. Dr. Zahid Mahmood Institute of Clinical Psychology, UMT, Lahore, Dr. Sajjad Ahmad Calgary (Canada), Dr. Qudsia Tariq(Karachi), Dr. Iram Bokharey, Dr. Rafia Rafique Director, Institute of Applied Psychology, University of the Punjab, Dr. Muhammad Rafiq (UMT), Dr. Ijaz ul Haq (Italy), Dr. Iram Mansoor(CMH Lahore), Prof. Dr. Salma Hasan, Government College University Lahore and many other distinguish guests & participated in this E-Conference and gave their opinion on Covid 19: The Changing Horizons. Several topics were discussed in the conference including “Mental Health and Psychosocial Support in the Time of Corona”
UMT Institute of Clinical Psychology Director Dr Sadia warmly welcomed all the distinguished participants & guests for joining the conference and shed light on the current scenario of Covid- 19 across the world. She said that we have to learn how to guide, motivate and manage the behavior of the public in this pandemic.
Dr Sadia also expressed that we need to develop a culture of mutual and communal responsibility, as individuals and as groups so that we would be able to solve problems conjointly.
UMT President Ibrahim Hassan Murad appreciated Director ICP and her team for organizing successful conference on important topic. He expressed that the critical role of education in building a society of individuals imbued not only with knowledge but displaying the best of human values. Ibrahim Murad also told that UMT’s Institute of Clinical Psychology is playing its due role by innovative contribution towards the mission of UMT. Through this conference we can find solution of challenges and problems faced due to corona pandemic.
Addressing to the conference, Rector Dr Aslam expressed thanks to esteemed participants & panelist guests for gracing this conference and providing an insight on how Covid is creating the corona world order. Dr. Aslam said that we at UMT, with the help of faculty and staff organized a lead for a three pronged approach, psycho-education, assessing the psychological impact of a new reality on the public, and devise appropriate help.
Guest speakers Rebecca K. Fox and Dr. Anya she talked about New Strategies for Engaging Students in Distance/Online Environments. They also discussed about Mental Health and Psychosocial Support in the Time of Corona. All guest speakers agreed on this point that corona virus is reshaping the world order but at the same time it also offers opportunity to manage systemic challenges.
