Ah! Dr Naqaish Sadiq

The nation has lost another top ranking doctor Prof. Naqaish Sadiq due to pulmonary complication from Covit-19 affliction. Today, we are devastated at the sad and sudden demise of a capable, young and an illustrious paediatric eye surgeon from Islamabad. Doctors baffled tirelessly to save his life but the will of God is always supreme, and ultimately he left this mortal world peacefully to his eternal abode. Inna lillahey wa inna alahay rajeoon.
During his career he served in various countries as a true ambassador of Pakistan. He was an upright person and a highly professional physician. He was my student and I have always found him a very compassionate and friendly with the patients. In fact, he was a role model in the profession especially for the budding doctors, equally loved by his patients and the society at large. This is a humble tribute to his devoted services to the society. His well-wishers join us in offering condolence to the bereaved family. May Allah give them patience and courage to bear this irreparable and untimely loss. He will ever be remembered.

Human, women rights too!

We are all entitled to human rights including the right to live free from violence and discrimination, to enjoy the attainable standard of physical and mental health, to be educated, to own property, to vote and to earn an equal wage. Many women still face discrimination on the basis of sex and gender, such as domestic and sexual violence, lower pay, lack of access to education and inadequate healthcare. Every woman has sexual and reproductive rights and equal access to health services like contraception and safe abortions, to choose if, when, and who they marry, and to decide if they want to have children and if so how many, when and with who. Many women face real challenges to move around freely as they please not just within the country we live in, but also to visit others.
“Feminism” is ensuring that women can fully enjoy their rights on an equal footing with men. Violence against women is a major human rights violation. Women’s rights are violated in a form of gender inequality, violent acts are committed against women and LGBTI people on the basis of their gender identity or sex characteristics. It is the responsibility of a state to protect women from gender-based violence – even domestic abuse.
Adult literacy and average schooling of women especially in Pakistan is very low comparing to men. Some people often think that there is no need of education for girls. This trampling of women rights proceeds further in the form of gender-based discrimination at workplace. Equal pay for the same work is a human right, but time and again women are denied access to a fair and equal wage.

Precautions against Corona

Wear a mask when you are outside your home — like going to the grocery store, the doctor, the dentist, etc. (If you are just in your yard or talking a walk by yourself in an area where there isn’t any people, you don’t need to wear a mask).
Wash your hands thoroughly every time you touch something outside your home in public places. Use sanitizer if you can’t wash your hands.
