Alignment of Ring Road construction of SEZs okayed

Chairman Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) Tariq Mehmood Murtaza chaired the 48th meeting of Governing Body of the Authority held at conference room of RDA on Friday.
The Governing Body of RDA approved alignment of 65.8km Rawalpindi Ring Road (RRR) project which will be started from Radio Pakistan Rawat N-5 and will be terminated at Sangjani N-5. The Body also approved construction of Special Economic Zones (SEZs) including Industrial, Educational, Recreational, Medical Health, Residential and Aerotropolis etc along with RRR to decongest the city and to set a new direction for growth of the city which is a key component of RRR.
The Director General RDA presented the annual budget of RDA and the Governing Body approved it to the tune of Rs 3520.836 million for the fiscal year 2020 – 2021. Out of the total Budget expenditure an amount of Rs 2395.22 million is allocated for development work. Adoption of strict financial discipline and austerity measures results into saving in various heads of accounts in the last financial year.
The Governing Body also approved Rs 2059.929 million deficits Budget of WASA for the fiscal year 2020 – 2021 which was presented by Managing Director (MD) WASA. Total income expected is Rs 1589.079 million whereas total expenditure is Rs 3649.008 million. Major portion of expenditure is allocated for improvement of water supply network, electricity Bill, improvement of sewerage line etc. Besides the above, the Body also approved various agenda items including Auction of Lease Rights of RDA own Properties Regulation 2020, Amendment in Regulation 2.5 (A) Vi of Building & Zoning Regulations 2020 dealing with apartment buildings.
