2 killed, 2 injured in DIK security post ambush

Terrorists’ ambush on a security post in D I Khan and landmine explosion in Mohmand tribal district on Saturday resulted in killing of at least two people and serious injuries to five others. Those injured include three children.
According to reports reaching here two people were killed when a group of unidentified gunmen opened fire on a security check post in Daraznida Moore in Dera Ismail Khan. The security check post is located in tehsil Daraban Kalan some 60 kilometers from DIK. Daraban Kalan is a congested area and a junction that links Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with Punjab, South Waziristan and Balochistan.
“The police force met an encounter with the armed men in the area, which resulted in death of two persons and bullet injuries to two others”. Police authorities said with the reports saying those killed and wounded were the civilians. The deceased have been identified as the employees of a restaurant and a nearby petrol station.
“The police personnel stationed at the post returned the fire, forcing the attackers to flee. Security men remained unhurt during the attack,” police said. The wounded were shifted to a nearby DI Khan hospital.
In the meanwhile three children including two brothers were critically injured in a landmine explosion in Safi tehsil of Mohmand tribal district on Saturday. Reports say victim children were playing near a mountain between the area of Mamadgat and Sagi Payan when a landmine exploded on them. The injured children were shifted to hospital in critical condition as one of them is reported to have lost both the legs. They were identified as 10-year-old Bilal Khan, 12-year-old Iftikhar and his younger brother 10-year-old Mukamal Shah.
