A resolution against hike in petroleum prices on Saturday been submitted in the Punjab Assembly by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) Rabia Farooqi.
The resolution stated that the staggering increase in petroleum prices is a cruel step and there is no justification for the surge as rates are decreasing in the international market.
People had been facing fuel shortage for several days and prices are now increased, it said while demanding that the decision should be withdrawn.
The resolution further added that judiciary should take suo motu notice over the matter and bring facts before public by forming an investigation commission. Let it be known that the federal government on Friday announced to increase the prices of petroleum products with immediate effect.
According to statement issued by the Finance Division, the Government decided to revise the existing prices of petroleum products in view of the rising oil prices trend in the global market.
The price of petrol has been increased by Rs25.58 to Rs100.10 per litre, while price of High Speed Diesel (HSD) has been increased by Rs21.13 to Rs101.46 per litre.
