4 children die in KP rain related incidents

Amid high alert issued by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) for more flash floods caused by rains in hilly terrains of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the next twenty four hours, the calamity continued to take its toll as at least four Children were killed and 15 others including minors and female were wounded in rain related incidents this time in Orakzai tribal district thus taking the death toll to around twenty in the recent spell of monsoon.
According to reports reaching here at least four children succumbed to their injuries while 15 other mostly women and children sustained injuries after the roof of a house collapsed following heavy rainfall in the Lerra area of Lower Orakzai tribal district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday.
As per the details, a marriage ceremony was in progress in the house when its roof caved in suddenly due to incessant rainfall in the area.
Local people retrieved four dead bodies and 15 injured persons from the debris of the house.
The injured were rushed to Kalaya hospital for medical treatment where some of the victims were stated to be in critical condition.
In the meanwhile, Provincial Disaster Management Authority in a letter cautioned the Deputy Commissioners of Chitral, Upper Dir, Swat and Kohistan districts to take precautionary measures to avert human and material losses during heavy rains that could trigger high floods.
PDMA has also advised tourists avoid visiting the mountainous areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during next 24 hours owing to heavy rain forecast that may lead to floods and blockade of roads etc.
